Wind River Range 2019
In 2016, I took my first backpacking trip to the Wind River Range and the Cirque of the Towers - and I was hooked and couldn't wait to go back. My return trip was in the summer of 2019 on a slightly different route, but the goal was to get to the Cirque.
This trip, I camped about a thousand feet above the valley on the north side, with the hope of enjoying a spectacular sunrise. I felt very fortunate that I was able to experience the sunrise there. But, the evening before, a storm blew through just as I made camp, so I hunkered down for about an hour. When I finally stuck my head out of my tent, I enjoyed the most awesome and dramatic displays of mountain weather and angling sun of my life. I hope you enjoy these few images, too.
